Ed Sheeran leaves a bride and groom speechless

Ed Sheeran leaves a bride and groom speechless after crashing their Vegas wedding to perform a track from his forthcoming album – as singer cancels a show in the city due to ‘safety concerns’

Ed Sheeran made a newly married couple’s dream come true by gatecrashing their wedding ceremony and serenading them with a song from his new album.

Armed with an acoustic guitar, the singer-songwriter made an unexpected appearance at the legendary Little White Chapel in Las Vegas – where a young couple were in the process of exchanging vows.

Sheeran, 32, had time to spare having cancelled his show at Allegiant Stadium in the Nevada gambling mecca due to ‘safety concerns.’

The British star was accompanied by four backing vocalists as they made their way into the small church, famous for its Elvis Presley themed weddings and drive-thru tunnel of love.

In front of a visibly startled bride and groom, Sheeran and his singers launched into an acoustic rendition of new song Magical – the opening track on his forthcoming seventh album Autumn Variations.

The singer later posed for photos with the couple after watching them complete their vows and share their first kiss as man and wife.

Sheeran was also pictured with their wedding certificate after appearing to sign it,

Sharing a video of the moment with Instagram followers on Monday, he wrote: ‘Crashed a wedding, this is Magical.’

Sheeran has considerable form as a wedding crasher, having previously made an unexpected appearance at a 2015 wedding in Australia.

The singer was on hand to perform during the bride and groom’s first dance in Sydney, arranged by popular local radio DJ’s Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O’ Henderson.

Taking to Instagram, Sheeran shared a snap with beaming newlyweds Kya and Matt Debono and their children.

‘Just surprised this lovely couples [sic] first dance. Available for weddings, birthdays and bar mitzvah’s, contact your local super market for details,’ he wrote.

The singer cancelled his Las Vegas concert stop on Saturday just hours before he was due to take to the stage over concerns the floor would collapse.

Sheeran was slated to perform for concertgoers amid his North American trek at Allegiant Stadium – which is just below the Vegas Strip.

However, the Grammy winner admitted it would not go ahead in a statement shared with Instagram followers.

‘I can’t believe I’m typing this but there’s been some challenges encountered during the load in of our Vegas show,’ he wrote.

‘It’s impossible to go forward with the show. I’m so sorry. I know everyone has travelled in for this and I wish I could change it.’

It’s understood that a safety issue caused the cancellation, after a flooring issue was flagged when Sheeran’s team brought their gear in for the soundcheck.

According to The Sun, rubber tiling had become unstuck causing two tall towers to slip overnight by about a foot each.

Despite efforts by engineers to reinforced the towers, they were still shifting necessitating the cancellation of the show.

Hot happening: The singer cancelled his Las Vegas concert stop on Saturday just hours before he was due to take to the stage over concerns the floor would collapse

A source told the publication: ‘Health and safety is paramount at gigs of all magnitude and scale – but even more so at a 65,000-seater NFL stadium.

‘The issue was with the floor rather than the stage itself but Ed and his crew battled for 24 hours to salvage the show.

‘He was obviously gutted they couldn’t make it happen but it was completely out of his hands and the right decision to protect his fans.’

Sheeran revealed that Saturday’s show would be postponed to the following month, writing: ‘The gig will be postponed to Saturday October 28th and all purchased tickets will be valid for that date. I’m so, so sorry x.’

Allegiant Stadium had hinted earlier in the day that there were unclear issues and jumped to Twitter to update concertgoers that the show would be ‘significantly delayed.’

However, in another recent update, the stadium tweeted, ‘This evening’s Ed Sheeran concert has been rescheduled for Saturday, October 28. Previously purchased tickets will be valid for the rescheduled date.’
