George Clooney is reportedly selling his Como, Italy estate for $100 million?
In 2002, George Clooney and some his bros were on a motorcycle trip through Italy, when they came across a beautiful home in the wealthy Lake Como enclave. The home was owned by the Heinz family and they offered to sell the mansion/estate to Clooney for $10 million. It was a good deal at the time and an even better deal 21 years later. In years past, the paparazzi swarmed into Como every summer to see which A-listers were invited to George’s house. George also made an effort to “summer” in Como every year, and he would often tie in his summer holiday with a trip to the Venice Film Festival (as he did this year). Since George married Amal, there are fewer A-list guests and fewer paparazzi stalking Como, but perhaps that’s because the Clooneys spend less time there these days. All of that means that George is probably putting his Como home on the market:
George and Amal Clooney are saying arrivederci to his famed Lake Como bachelor villa in Northern Italy. A source close to the “Batman and Robin” star told Page Six he’s put it on the market for a whopping €100 million ($107 million).
Rumors of Clooney selling the Lake Como property have been around for some time. Whispers about the sale dates as far back as 2010, when he was said to looking to be thinking about selling because of the paparazzi attention he was drawing to the area. Then the same rumors popped up again in 2015, less than a year after married lawyer Amal.
“George loves the area and the people who live there, but is conscious of the attention he gets when he is in town. He has received a huge offer for the villa, which he is considering, and he would buy another, less accessible property in another area of Italy,” a source told us at the time.
The Clooneys bought the stunning Domaine du Canadel estate in the Provence region of France in 2021, and we’re told Amal prefers to stay there.
But we’re told Clooney, whom sources have described as “like the mayor of the lake” has pulled the trigger this time. Our source told us it’s a “very quiet listing” which we’re guessing means you won’t find it on Streeteasy!
“It’s very quiet. No advertising. No press — just high net worth [prospective buyers],” they said.

I forgot that the Clooneys bought an estate in France? I remember that George bought a beautiful estate for Amal in England though – soon after their wedding, they bought an enormous mansion on the island of Sonning Eye in Oxfordshire. Now they have a French estate and George still has his bachelor pad in LA, and doesn’t he also own a home in Mexico? Let me look it up – he did have a house in Mexico but he sold it. Anyway, I always loved the idea of George holding on to that Como mansion, but it sounds like he outgrew it and he’s ready to move on. I bet it does sell for something like $100 million as well.
