Richard Madeley has revealed he’s lost hearing in one ear after suffering from a new strain of Covid.
The Good Morning Britain presenter claimed a new variant of the disease has left him with a perforated eardrum and will take weeks to heal.
Speaking to The Sun, he said: “I got a post-Covid complication.
“It’ll heal in time but for now it’s a total pain – it feels like I’ve got a cork in my right lughole!”
Thankfully for Richard, he’s been managing to present on the ITV show with the help of a high-volume ear piece.

In busier environments however, the host said “it’s tricky” to hear what someone is saying.
He added: “I’ll just have to be patient – my ENT [Ear, Nose and Throat] guy says perforated eardrums take a few weeks to self-heal.
“So there’ll be a lot of ‘pardon?’ and ‘what?’ from me between now and Christmas.”
As stated by the NHS, the main known symptoms of Covid are a high temperature or shivering, having a new, continuous cough and a change to your sense of smell or taste.
With the latest strain, a sore throat and a runny or blocked nose are said to be the two most common symptoms.

According to the National Institues Of Health, researchers found that SARS-CoV-2 can infect inner ear cells, however, it’s not a well known symptom.
Away from his presenting schedule, Richard is set to star in a new ITV reality show focused on his and Judy Finnigan’s daughter Chloe Madeley’s new life as a mum.
The fitness fanatic welcomed daughter Bodhi last year with her husband James Haskell.
In the four-hour-long instalments, she, her spouse and the family will be seen going on days out and holidays during the first months of parenthood.
Chloe also addresses the unexpected turn the couple faced when they had to move in with her parents while their home got renovated.
In a preview she says while she was grateful for Richard and Judy’s help and support, it was not an ideal situation.
She went on to add that living with her parents again surprisingly changed their relationship, for the better.
Richard and Judy are also parents to 37-year-old son Jack, who is away from the public eye.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
