Holly Willoughby tried to mend Phillip Schofield friendship after ITV exit
Holly Willoughby reportedly tried to mend her relationship with her former best friend and This Morning co-host Phillip Schofield after he resigned from ITV.
In May, Holly, 42, is said to have contacted Phillip, 61, days after he quit the channel and admitted to an affair with a younger colleague.
A source said: “She was concerned about the toll his departure from ITV had taken on him.
“He has now reached out to her after hearing about the incident. She was really happy to hear from him,” they added to The Sun.
Phillip is now believed to have reached out to offer his support in the wake of the alleged hitman plot targeting her.

A shopping centre security officer has been remanded in custody and charged with soliciting a US hitman to commit murder, and incitement to commit kidnap.
A source said there is “still a bond” between Phil and Holly and the 61-year-old is said to be “absolutely horrified” by the news.
They told the Mirror: “Phil’s decision to reach out, and the welcome it has been received with by Holly, shows that there is still a bond there.
“The hope is they can regain some of the ground lost and support each other again.”

They added: “Phil was absolutely horrified to hear she had been allegedly targeted in such a sickening way and decided to reach out to her, in spite of their lack of contact.
“He wanted her to know he was thinking of her and her family.”
The former best friends were no longer speaking after Phillip admitted he had lied to her about his “unwise but not illegal affair” with the younger man.
Shortly after Phillip confirmed his resignation, Holly shared on Instagram: “When reports of this relationship first surfaced, I asked Phil directly if this was true and was told it was not.
“It’s been very hurtful to now find out that this was a lie.”
She also addressed his departure on This Morning, telling viewers that she felt “shaken, troubled and let down” by the revelations.
In his BBC interview in the aftermath of his exit, Phillip said he text Holly to apologise for lying to her.
He said: “The last time we had a conversation was when I texted Holly and said, ‘Don’t reply’ – this was after the statement last week – ‘Don’t reply, you’re probably not allowed to, but I am deeply deeply sorry that I lied to you’.”
