Joan Collins: I love Strictly but keep turning it down

The TV legend told BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour that although she was a big fan of the show, there was “no way” she would appear on it.

When asked by host Emma Barnett if she had seen 78-year-old Angela “pull her leg by her ear” last Saturday night, Joan, 90, replied: “I did see it.

“I am a huge fan of Strictly and I thought it was amazing.”

But asked if she would ever take part, she said: “Are you kidding? No way! I’ve been asked to do it several times.”

Angela – Strictly’s oldest ever contestant – showed off her flexibility with an impressive kick during her debut, wowing both judges and fans.

In a silver sparkly fringed dress, the veteran broadcaster took to the floor with her pro partner Kai Widdrington, 28, for an energetic Cha Cha to Get The Party Started by Shirley Bassey.

Former Dynasty star Dame Joan, promoting her memoir Behind The Shoulder Pads, has previously boasted about her own flexibility. In the past she has performed the splits on an Italian TV show, and during an interview in December 2021, she said: “I do the splits very easily.”

The actress also told how she was catching up with old episodes of Dynasty which she had never seen after three decades. She has been watching them with husband Percy Gibson, 58.

She admitted: “I’m watching some for the first time in 30-odd years with Percy.”
