Lizzo Planning To Countersue Backup Dancers For 'Malicious Prosecution'
Lizzo is planning to countersue her former backup dancers for “malicious prosecution” over their sexual harassment lawsuit.
Earlier this month, Lizzo, a flag bearer of body positivity, was sued by three of her former dancers, who accused the superstar of sexual harassment and the creation of a hostile work environment.
Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles court against Lizzo, whose real name is Melissa Jefferson, and her Big Grrrl Big Touring Inc.
Meanwhile, in a statement, Lizzo’s lawyer Marty Singer cited photos and videos that allegedly contradict the dancers’ claims and revealed Lizzo’s plans to countersue.
“These irrefutable photos and videos, along with additional substantial evidence, prove the glaring contradictions between what the plaintiffs claim in their bogus lawsuit and what is actually proven by the facts,” argued Singer. “The lawsuit is a sham. Lizzo intends to sue for malicious prosecution after she prevails and these specious claims are dismissed.”
In their lawsuit, one dancer accused Lizzo of calling out her weight gain and firing her for recording a meeting. Other allegations mentioned in the lawsuit included Lizzo falsely accusing dancers of drinking on the job, leading to an “excruciating” audition.
In another particularly egregious allegation, the lawsuit claims that Lizzo pushed the dancers to attend a sex show in Amsterdam’s famed Red Light District and then pressured them to engage with the performers.
“Lizzo began inviting cast members to take turns touching the nude performers, catching dildos launched from the performers’ vaginas, and eating bananas protruding from the performers’ vaginas,” the lawsuit claims. “Lizzo then turned her attention to Ms. Davis and began pressuring Ms. Davis to touch the breasts of one of the nude women performing at the club.”
