Richard E. Grant reflects on memories of late wife Joan
Richard E Grant has left fans heartbroken after he paid tribute to his late wife on what have been 37 years of marriage.
Taking to X, formally known as Twitter, the actor met Joan Washington in 1982 and enjoyed 35 years of marriage before her death.
He penned: “Posthumous 37th Wedding Anniversary today. Am profoundly grateful for the decades-long partnership I shared with the extraordinary love of my Life, Joan Washington.”
The tweet also included a series of photos of the pair smiling together over the years.
Joan, 75, died in September 2021 from lung cancer.

Many of Richard’s 350,000 followers couldn’t help but react to the emotional post.
One person typed: “Yours truly was the kind of love we can all aspire to. Love never dies. Love to you and your lovely daughter on this very poignant day. X.”
A second commented: “Richard the world is a better place because of you – your honesty and love that can be seen in every message is life affirming and heart breaking and heart mending all at once.”
A third wrote: “Thinking of you Richard. What lovely photos of you both. Joan was a beautiful woman. x.”

The 66-year old wrote a memoir in 2022 based on his diaries from when his wife had cancer, which he named A Pocket Full of Happiness.
Having grown up in Swaziland, Grant moved to the UK in 1982 to work as an actor.
He later met Joan when he was taking classes to improve his accent and a romance quickly blossomed.
Joan and Richard share one daughter, Olivia, who works as a casting director.
