Russell Brand’s father-in-law ‘begged’ daughter to end their relationship
Russell Brand denies Dispatches documentary claims
Russell Brand’s father-in-law Bernard Gallacher reportedly “begged” his daughter Laura Gallacher to leave the comedian in the very early stages of their relationship.
When Russell first laid eyes on his now wife through her Sky Sports presenter sister Kirsty Gallacher, she was an 19-year-old art student and he was 30.
Bernard reportedly “begged her to end it” at the time as he was concerned about the age gap, according to Mail Online.
The pair eventually parted ways in 2007, before Russell went off to make a name for himself in the Hollywood world and later married singing sensation Katy Perry in 2010.
Following the end of their marriage in 2012, Russell and Laura rekindled their relationship again and married in 2017.
They now have two children together and she is also currently pregnant with their third child.
Bernard’s initial concerns were seemingly left behind when he attended the pair’s wedding in 2017.
Pictures from the day show him looking every inch the doting father as he walked his daughter down the aisle at Remenham Church near their £3million home in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire.
A year before their big day, they welcomed their first child together and Laura’s parents were reportedly “very happy” with the “positive” news.
Express.co.uk has contacted a representative for Bernard and Laura for comment.
Neither Laura, Kirsty, or Bernard have made a public comment about the rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse allegations made against Russell, which allegedly happened between 2006 and 2013.
The accusations came to light in The Times and Channel 4’s Dispatches’ joint investigation last week, all of which he strongly denies.
In a lengthy denial video ahead of the accusations being made public, Russell said all of his relationships had been consensual.
“These allegations pertain to the time when I was working in the mainstream, when I was in the newspapers all the time, when I was in the movies.
” And as I’ve written about extensively in my books, I was very, very promiscuous. Now, during that time of promiscuity, the relationships I had were absolutely always consensual. I was always transparent about that,” he added.

On Monday, Russell’s father Ron spoke out about the allegations against his son.
The 80-year-old called the allegations “unproven” and suggested there was a “vendetta” against Russell, in a Facebook post which now appears to have been deleted.
He added, as reported by the MailOnline: “Is this seriously the most important thing happening in this world? Immigrants? Cost of living? 10s of thousands killed in Ukraine?
“Who is prioritising at BBC News. Who is really driving this vendetta?
“With many struggling to pay bills. The unproven accusations of 15 years ago take lead on BBC News?”
