Rylan Clark recalls last time he saw estranged dad and says he has no desire to meet his secret family

Rylan Clark has candidly discussed his estranged father, sharing that he currently has "no desire" to meet his half-siblings who formed his dad's "secret family."

Celebrity Gogglebox viewers will be familiar with Rylan's mum Linda, with whom he appears on the show, however, the former Celebrity Big Brother winner rarely mentions his dad, who has remained rather absent throughout his life.

The Radio 2 DJ has now opened up about the last time he saw his dad, and how he's never met his half-siblings.

Speaking to The Telegraph, he explained: "I had a lot of curiosity about him growing up, it transpired that he had a family that my mum didn't know about at the time when she got pregnant."

Rylan shared that throughout his childhood his dad would pop in and out of the picture, but that the last time he saw him was when he was 15.

Recalling how his mother had taken him out to a sandwich shop to celebrate after he stood up to his bullies, knocking one of them out, Rylan said: "As we were walking to the sandwich shop, bearing in mind I’d not seen him for 10 years at that point.

"I just looked and saw this man and said, 'Mum, that’s Daddy.' And she went, 'Oh yeah, it is – you all right?' They chatted, and he just went, 'Oh, my boy…' And I said, 'Bye.' And he went."

He added that he has no desire to meet his two half-siblings, quipping that "maybe they're sitting watching me on the TV."

Rylan previously opened up about his father on Louis Theroux's podcast Grounded back in 2020, where he stated that he didn't plan on forging a relationship to his half-siblings.

At the time he said: "Even though they don't know me personally they know me… and I just think that it would be a bit too odd."

Rylan's candid discussion about his father comes after he and his mum jetted off on holiday together, with Linda being hospitalised while abroad after suffering a fall.

The former X Factor star then paid for a private plane to bring his hospital-bound mum back to the UK.

Sharing a photo of his mother's return to Instagram, Rylan penned the caption: "She might have broke an arm and a leg but she’s cost me an arm and a leg! LINDAS COMING HOME!! Massive thank you to the amazing team and surgeons at @helicopterossanitarios . Thanks for looking after my mum x."
