Strictlys Amy Dowden dealt another health blow days after finishing treatment
Amy Dowden has been forced to pull out of plans to return to Strictly Come Dancing after fracturing her foot just days after finishing her cancer treatment.
The 33-year-old dancer revealed that she had planned to go back to the dancefloor this year, but her new injury means this will no longer be possible.
Sharing a photograph of herself in a fracture boot, Amy wrote on Instagram: “Not the week I was hoping for since finishing chemo.
“Port out but unfortunately gained a boot for a fractured foot.
“Absolutely gutted and heartbroken as this means the plans for me to dance in the Strictly Ballroom this year are no longer possible. This is what has kept me going the past few months.

“2023 is certainly not my year, roll on 2024 I say!”
She added hashtags such as “#noluck” and “#myluckwillsoonchange”.
Last week, Amy was inundated with support when she celebrated her last round of treatment for stage three breast cancer.
Due to her diagnosis and subsequent treatment, she was unable to have a celebrity partner on this year’s Strictly – her first year without one since she joined the show in 2017.

In October, the star made a surprise appearance on the BBC One show, bravely showcasing her shaved head as she appeared to read the show’s terms and conditions.
Later, in an episode of the spin-off programme It Takes Two, Amy said she was trying her best to “stay positive” and thanked her fellow dancers and Strictly staff for making her feel “liberated” to not wear a wig on the show.
She announced her diagnosis in May after finding a lump in her breast the day before going to the Maldives on her honeymoon with fellow professional dancer Ben Jones.
The couple married in July 2022 and Ben has been by her side throughout her gruelling treatment.
He told HELLO! In May: “Amy has had a lot to deal with in her life and, as I expected, has shown great resilience in the past couple of weeks…We are both staying very positive and remain optimistic moving forward.”
On top of her diagnosis, Amy has also suffered from Crohn’s disease since she was a child.
Since her diagnosis and subsequent mastectomy and chemotherapy, the dancer has raised awareness of breast cancer and posted regular treatment updates on her social media platforms.
