X Factor star Rowetta has reassured fans after revealing she was in hospital having surgery for an unknown condition on Wednesday afternoon.
The Happy Mondays singer, 57, sparked concern when she shared a photo from a hospital bed wearing a gown ahead of the operation.
However hours later, Rowetta assured her followers that the surgery had gone as planned as she shared her hopes to perform again at the weekend.
In the picture, Rowetta was wearing oxygen tubes and had a cannula attached to her hand as she recovered following the operation.
Thanking her fans for their support, the songstress wrote: ‘Huge thank you to everyone for the beautiful messages.

The post came hours after Rowetta revealed she was due to go into theatre, while sharing another picture of herself in the hospital gown.
She wrote: ‘Operation day. Hopefully I’ll be all good to rock and roll with the boys on Friday! See you on the other side!’
Rowetta was flooded with messages of support from her followers, who wished her well ahead of the operation.
Keith Lemon actor Leigh Francis was among those sending a message, as he wrote: ‘Good luck.’
While Gail Porter, penned: ‘All the best. [heart emojis]’
Lisa Moorish, said: ‘Hope you’re okay. Wishing you a speedy recovery.’
Rowetta first rose to prominence in the 90s with the Happy Mondays, before having a second rush at fame when she appeared on the X Factor.
The star was branded ‘amazing but barking bloody mad’ by Simon Cowell, before finishing the competition in fourth place.
Rowetta, who still performs with the Happy Mondays, toured with them in 2015 to mark the 25th anniversary of the album Pills ‘n’ Thrills and Bellyaches.
