Adobe Is Coming Out With a Next-Gen AI Photo Editing Engine
Those who have been making use of Generative Fill since Adobe rolled out the impressive AI-powered editing tool will be excited to learn that the company has more up its sleeve. Adobe has teased “Project Stardust,” not merely one tool but a full-on AI engine built for editing across its software programs.
Teased in a sneak peek video, Adobe demonstrates how the “object-aware editing engine” can pick out individual objects within photographs, allowing the user to move the objects around and rearrange them.
While Adobe Photoshop already has a similar feature – the lasso tool – the engine offers an easier, more streamlined approach with more power to reconfigure a given object. For instance, the video shows how users can delete objects entirely or move them to a different layer of the photo, manipulating the depth perception.
Adobe product manager Aya Philémon said that the engine will “revolutionize how we interact with Adobe products.” The public will have to wait to learn more about the new engine until the online Adobe MAX 2023 conference kicks off on Tuesday, October 10.
In other tech news, Microsoft reportedly plans to close the Activision deal next week.
