IKEA Crafts Its Own Balenciaga Towel Skirt

Balenciaga is no stranger to trolling with off-the-wall products – ranging from limited-edition destroyed sneakers to trash bags. The latest buzzy item from the house is its Spring 2024 towel skirt, which is as simple as it sounds – with a retail price of $925 USD. Now, IKEA is poking fun at the luxury fashion house with its own version of the towel skirt.

Balenciaga’s terry cloth towel skirt made its debut earlier this year during Paris Fashion Week. The product’s description boasts notes like “unisex,” “regular fit,” “mid-waist,” “knee length,” “Balenciaga embroidered tone on tone front” and more, which are all just common towel attributes – nothing special.

In light of Balenciaga’s piece, the Swedish home furnishing and home decor retailer brought attention to its VINARN bath towel, which retails for a calm $10 USD. On top of the item’s similarity to the Balenciaga towel, IKEA also mirrored the Balenciaga visual with a black hoodie, sharp black sunglasses, relaxed beige pants and black shoes.

For those who want to take the towel skirt out into the streets, IKEA’s VINARN also comes in five shades total including light grey/beige, light grey, white, light pink, and blue.
