IWC Schaffhausen Unveils Collaboration with Mercedes-AMG and Petronas Formula One Team
Following its collaboration from last year, IWC Schaffhausen is teaming up yet again with the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One team, in addition to a timepiece dedicated purely to Mercedes-AMG. Both watches are expressed through the Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41.
Crafted from cutting-edge materials like titanium and Ceratanium, the Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41 is a stunning bit of modern horology. Its ceramic bezel, featuring a tachymeter scale, is not just a stylistic choice but a functional one, enabling wearers to measure average speeds over a set distance — a particularly fitting feature given the chronograph’s association with motorsport and IWC’s designation as the “Official Engineering Partner” of the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One team.
Both watches are powered by the IWC-manufactured 69385 calibre, a testament to the brand’s expertise in movement manufacturing. This movement is known for its robustness and reliability, essential qualities for both pilots and racing professionals. Water-resistant to 10 bar or roughly 100 meters, these watches are designed for durability and performance under challenging conditions.
As for design, both watches feature black dials with a glossy finish, recessed totalizers and applied indices and numerals filled with Super-LumiNova, offering a sleek and readable interface. The attention to detail extends to the finishing of the dials, where the polished black lacquer and the individually finished totalizers highlight IWC’s commitment to craftsmanship.
Where the watches differ is the silver-colored finish provided to the “Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41 AMG” and the black finish on the “Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41 Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team,” which also features team-colored accents.
Each watch is available in two iterations, one with a matching Ceratanium bracelet and the other with a rubberized strap and Ceratanium buckle. Price and availability have not yet been shared at the time of writing, for more information keep an eye on IWC’s official site.
Elsewhere in watches, Hublot and Takashi Murakami unveil limited-edition MP-15.
