Levi's and New Balance to Release 580 Pack
As part of its continued celebration of the 150th anniversary of the 501 Jean, Levi’s is partnering up with New Balance for a 580 pack.
Inspired by the mountain biking culture of the ’70s or more specifically, Marin County, California, where the sport originated, the 580 pack features two different colorways. The first features a black denim base layer, with panels of both soft and hairy beige suede — accents include patterned laces, blue and pink hits throughout and an off-white rubberized outsole.
The second pair features a more subtle take, with a deep blue denim base wrapped in soft grey nubuck leather. It also features accents of pink and indigo blue but sits atop a black rubber outsole with laces to match.
Both pairs feature Levi’s signature red tag, sit on ABZORB and ROLLBAR-enabled outsoles and come in a special box that features the following story printed at the interior:
“In the early ’70s, Marin County birthed the Mountain Bike. Cyclists pushed limits on Mount Tamalpais’s fire roads, using modified paperboy bikes on harsh terrain. Accidents were part of the sport’s evolution. Levi’s denim became the uniform for these pioneers – durable, protective, and stylish.”
The Levi’s x New Balance 580 pack is expected to be released sometime in November, with retail pricing yet to be shared at the time of writing. For more information, keep an eye on Levi’s and New Balance’s official channels.
