Lotus Unveils Its First Hyper-GT: The Emeya
Lotus has unveiled its first-ever Hyper-GT model, the Emeya, a four-door vehicle designed to set a new standard for luxury and performance in the electric vehicle market.
The company’s CEO, Feng Qingfeng, announced the launch in New York City, stating that the Emeya combines Lotus’ rich heritage with intelligent performance and the latest technologies, pushing the boundaries for how a luxury EV should look and perform.
The Emeya boasts advanced aerodynamic features, including an active front grille, rear diffuser, and rear spoiler, combined with a low center of gravity, designed to enhance stability and set a new standard for ride and handling excellence in the GT segment. The car also features an electronically controlled air suspension system that adjusts the vehicle automatically to ensure the smoothest ride.
The top-spec model of the Emeya features a high-power dual-motor setup, delivering a top speed of over 155 mph and acceleration from 0-60 mph in under 2.8 seconds, making it one of the world’s fastest electric GTs at the time of writing. Additionally, the Emeya has market-leading charging capabilities, with the ability to add 93 miles of range in approximately five minutes using a 350kW DC fast charger and boosting range up to 80% within 18 minutes.
Designed with advanced sustainable materials, the Emeya aims to reduce its carbon footprint. The interior includes luxury threads made from repurposed fibers from the fashion industry, PVD aluminum, Alcantara, Nappa leather, and Ultrafabrics PU. Additionally, the car offers an immersive audio system developed with KEF, featuring Dolby Atmos-enabled 3D surround sound.
The global premiere of the Emeya took place at Studio Emeya in New York City, as part of a three-day immersive brand experience showcasing Lotus’ past, present, and future. The event included an exclusive look at the Emeya’s creation and culminated in a rooftop party featuring DJ Benji B.
Lotus is now opening the same event to the public for a single day, this Saturday, September 9, with tickets available via the official Lotus eventbrite page. For those unable to attend, you can check out the launch film below.
While we’ve seen lots of exciting concept cars lately, the Emeya is available to reserve now, with deliveries expected to begin as early as 2024.
