'Now You See Me 3' Is Finally Being Made, 7 Years After the Sequel
By now, fans of Now You See Me may have forgotten that there was a third movie being developed in the first place. The inaugural magician film was released in 2013, followed by a sequel in 2016.
Following a renegade group of magicians being chased down by the FBI, the inaugural film was directed by Louis Leterrier and starred Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Mark Ruffalo and Morgan Freeman.
Prior to the release of the sequel, Now You See Me 2, in theaters, Lionsgate set out to make a third installment. Seven years later, however, and fans still hadn’t received an update on production for the project – allegedly because of a change in the film’s director and lead writer.
In a recent call, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Chair Joe Drake told investors that Now You See Me 3 was in the works. He also shared that the project would be directed by Ruben Fleischer, who also directed the Eisenberg-starring Zombieland.
Now You See Me 3 is expected to be released in late 2024, though exact details surrounding the film haven’t been made public just yet.
In other entertainment news, the Las Vegas Sphere has reportedly lost $98.4 million USD since it opened.
