PLEASURES References '90s Streetwear of NYC With Triple 5 Soul Collaboration
For its latest collaboration, PLEASURES has come together with Triple 5 Soul for a limited capsule collection. The special range serves as an homage to OG streetwear that unites icons of Los Angeles meets New York City.
Launched back in 1989 by Camella Ehlke, the Creative Director started with crafting bespoke clothing in the Lower East Side at 151 Ludlow Street. Ehlke quickly became known for her unconventional styles like the Tie Hat and deadstock fabric tees and hoodies. The brand’s culture and clothing developed through its space that served as equal parts studio, shop, and clubhouse led to a loyal following including the likes of Mos Def, De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, Bobitto, and Mad Lib.
Helping define what streetwear is today, Triple 5 Soul developed a distinct concept that marked the NYC creative of the early ’90s. From hip-hop, b-boys, and skateboarding, the label captured the vibrant energy, community of artists, and unique clothing of downtown New York City.
PLEASURES’ collaboration blends its insight into Internet culture references with Triple 5 Soul’s ties to NYC streetwear into an exciting capsule. Developing something dynamic with utilitarian design elements, a standout is the Triple Modular Jacket as it doubles as a backpack and can be fashioned into a vest with a removable hood and sleeves. Comprised of 10 styles, other items found in the range include the 555 Applique Zip Up Hoodie, 53X Inside Out Hoodie and Sweatpants, Biz Card T-Shirt and Hat, Soul Snapback, Five 5 V T-Shirt in cream and black, and Soul Nylon Active Pant.
“The brand always stood out to me. From the crazy backpack chair to the details on the tech jackets, TRIPLE 5 was tight from its inception. It’s truly an honor to collaborate with such an iconic brand,” said Alex James, Co-Founder of PLEASURES.
