Porsche’s Legendary “Pink Pig” Design Dresses Special Edition Duotone Kite and Board

After a successful debut collaboration, Porsche and Duotone have joined forces again to design a new limited-edition kite and board set.

The latest release centers around the Porsche 917/20 coupé, an iconic motorsport automotive that was designed to win Le Mans in 1971 with its wide body and rounded wheel cutouts. Besides its technical capabilities, the one-off model – designed in collaboration with French brand SERA – proved to be a statement in its striking appearance with an all-over pink livery that gave the racing car its nicknames: “Pink Pig” and “Big Berta.”

Taking cues from the bold aesthetic of this model, the special-edition Duotone set is plunged in a soft pink hue with similar track lines and typography printed in red throughout. Carefully weaving in references of the past, the brand incorporates the 917/20’s original 23 starting number onto the board and other iterations on the kites, stamped boldly in a vintage cursive font.

In terms of construction, Duotone uses high-spec Evo SLS technology and materials to build the kite where it is able to shave off up to 15% of the kite’s weight compared to other models. A new and improved Flex Struts design also allows handling to be more dynamic, giving this motorsport-inspired piece the high-flying control and performance it deserves.

“The collaboration with Porsche goes well beyond aesthetics,” says Duotone’s marketing director Thomas Kaiser. “It’s the fusion of two worlds – the design of Porsche meets Duotone’s kite technology. The result is a masterpiece that stands out not only for its design, but also its unparalleled performance.”

As the two brands work together to promote and bring awareness to kitesurfing, they announce that 25% of the proceeds from the collaboration will be given to Young Blood, a youth support program set up by Duotone that gives aspiring kitesurfers the support they need to go professional through courses on training, sponsoring and social media.

Limited to only 360 units, the Porsche x Duotone board releases in a standard size of 138cm while the kite will drop in sizes; 7m, 9m and 12m. Take a closer look at the pieces in the new campaign video on YouTube now.
