There has been years of speculation about the marriage of Prince Albert and Princess Charlene, but the rumors aren’t dying down. The royal couple made a rather awkward appearance on Sept. 1 for the launch of TVMonaco and their reported tense body language did nothing to dispel the gossip that their union is on the rocks.

In an interview at the celebration, Prince Albert seemed at ease speaking with TVMonaco. “I’m very proud to be here with Princess Charlene to launch this beautiful adventure, this TV channel which will expand the importance of this principality throughout the world,” he said, via the Daily Mail. While he elaborated more on the project with pride, Princess Charlene, looking tense by his side, mustered up one sentence, “Congratulations – and all the best for the future.”

This rare appearance of the duo together comes on the heels of reports from the German and French media who insist that Charlene is “living in Switzerland.” Voici believes that she and Albert are merely a “ceremonial couple” at this point and she now only interacts with him “by appointment.” Prince Albert of Monaco has done his best to downplay any heat surrounding their marriage, but it’s getting harder for them to hide their fracture in public.

Princess Charlene deleted her personal Instagram account last month, which only led to more people scratching their heads about what was going on. They share eight-year-old twins Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella and are reportedly putting their focus on them. It’s an ongoing royal saga that doesn’t seem to have a happy ending, but hopefully, it was just a bad day behind palace walls.
