Stream the First Trailer for Mike Flanagan's 'The Fall of the House of Usher'
In The Fall of the House of Usher, horror aficionado Mike Flanagan tells a fantastically disturbing tale, infused with dark comedy and dynamic hierarchical family drama. A month ahead of its release date, Netflix has unveiled the first official trailer for the Edgar Allen Poe-inspired miniseries.
Inspired by Poe’s piece of the same name, Flanagan imbues the same ominous, haunting vibe prevalent in Poe’s 1839 short story. The Fall of the House of Usher follows siblings Roderick Usher (Bruce Greenwood) and Madeline Usher (Mary McDonnell), the faces of the corrupt pharmaceutical empire Fortunato Pharmaceuticals. “Your honor, no matter how much evidence is stacked against them, the Usher Crime Family stands stronger and darker than ever before,” a lawyer exclaims from the courtroom in one of the trailer’s opening scenes.
As the family’s unsavory past gets uncovered, members of the Usher family begin to drop dead one by one. ”If anyone comes after us, we will exhaust our arsenal until the treats neutralize,” Madeline reassures everyone over dinner. “Neutralize, like dead.”
The two-and-a-half-minute trailer is filled with jump scares, gory flashes, quippy comments and a run of Succession-esque family moments. Equipped with a stellar ensemble cast, the series cast includes: Carla Gugino, Carl Lumbly, Mark Hamill, Michael Trucco, T’Nia Miller, Paola Nuñez, Henry Thomas, Kyleigh Curran, Samantha Sloyan, Rahul Kohli, Kate Siegel, Sauriyan Sapkota, Zach Gilford, Willa Fitzgerald, Katie Parker, Malcolm Goodwin, Crystal Balint, Aya Furukawa, Daniel Jun, Matt Biedel, Ruth Codd, Annabeth Gish, Igby Rigney and Robert Longstreet.
