Tommy Hilfiger Recruits Greg Lauren for Reworked Fall 2023 Capsule
In a fashionable twist, Tommy Hilfiger has tapped Greg Lauren, fellow American designer Ralph Lauren’s nephew, for a deconstructive capsule collection. Reimagining pieces from Hilfiger’s mainline Fall 2023 range, the Tommy x Greg Lauren collaboration features 19 pieces, each of which were reinvented by Greg and his team of craftspeople in Los Angeles.
Among the lineup, chino pants are torn and patched back together in the form of cargo pants, and signature trucker jackets are made from slabs of denim and tartan. Oxford shirts, meanwhile, boast red-white-and-blue tags, taken from varsity jackets, and a pair of shorts takes navy and yellow textiles from other academic coats. Additionally, an Alaska puffer enlists surplus fabrics for its bottom half, and a cropped sweater makes use of eclectic knit swatches.
“I’ve always respected Greg’s attention to detail as well as his taste and talent,” said Hilfiger in a statement via WWD. “His deconstructed artistry blurs the line between classic and contemporary. We find inspiration and beauty in similar things — from rustic Americana to modern takes on prep. It’s all about reimagining the classics to make them feel fresh for today.”
Greg added, “Tommy Hilfiger embodies a fresh approach to heritage, making it feel current. My goal in this collaboration, as it always is, was to take existing pieces, deconstruct them, and make something new. I loved the idea of someone discovering a box of classic Tommy Hilfiger pieces and working with that material.”
The Tommy x Greg Lauren collection launches later this week at select retailers. Notably, each piece will be limited to roughly 20 numbered units, and prices range from $350 USD to $3,500 USD. Take a closer look at the range in the gallery above.
