Tremaine Emory To Open First Denim Tears Flagship Store in NYC

Only a few days after announcing his departure from Supreme, Tremaine Emory has announced plans to open Denim Tears’ inaugural flagship store in New York City, according to GQ. The artistic fashion label, which Emroy founded in 2019, will preview its retail outpost with a one-day pop-up on Saturday, September 9.

The brand will house the third installment of its Levi’s collaboration inside its soon-to-be full-time home at 176 Spring Street in the city’s SoHo neighborhood. New Yorkers might remeber the address as Stüssy’s former Manhattan store. Before the SoCal label called it home, Union LA occupied the space. Emory, who used to spend his free time outside the Union store in his earlier years, calls this a “full circle moment.”

As for the Levi’s collab, the duo has cooked up a slew of cotton-wreath-printed wares, as well as leather iterations of the Type 3 Jacket and the 501 Jeans. The line, which is inspired by Black biker culture, also features western denim shirts, hats and belts, along with a slew of graphic T-shirts. “I have had a fascination with Black bike culture for as long as I can remember,” Emory said in a statement. “There is an outsider sense, a danger, a pride, a respect, a commitment to freedom and a defiance against conforming to a polite doctrine.”

Following this weekend’s pop-up shop, the third installment in Denim Tears’ Levi’s collab will launch online on September 12. Prices range from $50 USD to $900 USD. Take a look at the range in the gallery above.
