An American woman living in London has sparked yet another culture clash row with her take on British street signs.
Content creator and management consultant Aurora Lofton, known on TikTok as @aurora._victoria often gives her 49,000 followers an insight into life in the UK as an American.
In a recent clip titled Something else to keep in mind, she illustrated her confusion when it came to road signs she’d seen around London, where she now resides.
She said: ‘Something that I found to be so confusing about the UK when I moved here from the US were the street signs.
‘In the US, when you get to the end of an intersection, the street signs are quite high up so you can see this street is ending and this street is beginning.’

The TikToker then pointed to a street in Kensington and explained: ‘But here there’s no street sign. You have to turn and look low to see the street sign.
‘So if you’re an American who’s coming to the UK or even here on vacation, make sure that you look low for the street sign.
‘Sometimes they might be high as well, but it’s not as clear – at least it wasn’t for me when I moved.’
Many of her followers chimed in to agree, with one admitting: ‘Roads/junctions/signage is something the US does wayyyy better than we do for drivers.
‘Less so for pedestrians tbh, but always clearly marked.’
Another claimed she’d just had the same conversation with her partner, adding: ‘Literally said the same thing to my boyfriend the other day.’
But a proud Briton took aim at her theory, saying: ‘Better than a load of stupid numbers too. At least they are actual words!’
A history buff claimed to know the reason behind the sign placement, saying: ‘They took a lot of them down during WW2 and didn’t bother to put them back up properly/put them back up at all sometimes.’

This comes after an American woman living in Britain candidly revealed yet more of the biggest differences she has noticed since relocating.
Andrea Celeste, originally from California, has shared a series of clips on TikTok to expose ‘the things that are socially acceptable in England which would confuse Americans.’
Her first video tackled a selection of the dos and don’ts she has encountered during her eight years in London.
But she has now also addressed the topics of petrol, camping and coffee – to name just a few.
