The pair have four biological children Felix, 21, Amory, 19, Conrad, 16, and daughter Domino, 11 and one adopted son Wesley, 25.

In 2021, India tied the knot with her partner of 26 years in a ‘very conventional’ ceremony which took place in Brightwell Baldwin Parish Church in Oxfordshire.

‘Having lived a fairly unconventional life together on a small island in the Bahamas for more than two decades, we decided that our wedding should, in contrast, be very conventional,’ India wrote in an article for Vogue.

‘Not just because everything we were doing was happening backwards but with the idea that everyone would be more relaxed in church the next morning, not as a result of the mild hangovers but because of the camaraderie from dancing in a field together,’ she added.

Explaining more about the lavish party in an article for Vogue, she added: ‘At the end of dinner my sort-of-niece (the daughter of my cousin, Tim Knatchbull, who feels closer than a cousin), sang with a voice to melt hearts.

‘As the words of “Songbird” drifted through the night air, I could feel love all around us. The evening ended with Christian Louboutin swinging like a fevered burlesque dancer around the tent pole at such a dizzying rate we all thought the tent would come crashing down.’

India shared that the wedding had ‘all the English trimmings’ complete with ‘a choir’ and ‘a series of uplifting hymns’.

Inside the church her son Conrad read a passage by Morgan Harper Nichols, an African American Christian writer, that ends with the words, while friend of the couple Charles Finch, read the Psalm of David, which had been printed in the order of service in David’s own handwriting.

India’s son Felix, 24, walked her down the and the mother wore a turtle neck wedding dress by Emilia Wickstead complete with ivory tull and lace and an A-line skirt for the big day.

She completed the look with a classic pair of white satin shoes by Christian Louboutin and carried a bouquet by Pulbrook & Gould London. The company poignantly made her mother’s wedding bouquet in 1960.

The ring was a simple gold and diamond band from Charlotte Chesnais, which the couple chose together in Paris a few months earlier.

They had the words ‘amor vincit omnia’ -which translates as love conquers all – on the inside.

She added a lace veil and simple drop pearl earrings as many.

‘I had debated wearing a veil, the symbol of virginity, because let’s face it I had lost that a while ago. But it also felt like a simple, very bridal gesture,’ India explained in an article for Vogue.

The bride was driven to the church – which is where she was christened and where her father is buried – by her son Wesley in David’s 1966 Mercedes Cabriolet.

India and David adopted in the Bahamas after his birth mother died of cancer. Felix, India’s fist born of her five children, then walked her down the aisle.

Sharing the first photos to Instagram she wrote: ‘Just before church, just before Felix walked me down the aisle,’ with a snap taken by Wesley.

The philanthropist had long insisted she had no plans to marry the former advertising executive, even after five children together, but revealed her change of heart on Instagram on 28th November.

India also shared how their friends from the Bahamas came to Oxfordshire for the wedding.

‘Rissy, who has been part of our family for nearly twenty years, came to be with us – ‘Do I look like a Bahamian Princess?’ She asked my boys as they drove her to the church- ‘YES. YES. YES’ they told her.’ she shared on Instagram.

‘Next to her is Claire, our Top Banana, who had cooked dinner for 100 friends and family the night before. Who has a dinner and dance the night BEFORE their wedding?

‘The Confetti was made up from rose petals hand-picked from my mothers garden and dried in her cellar, for a really, really long time. Archway greenery also from my mothers garden created for church by Babylon Flowers who are head quartered in the next door village.’
