Kate Middleton & William's 'ultimate revenge' on Meghan Markle & Harry – & it's left the Sussexes ‘angry’ & ‘frustrated’ | The Sun
KATE and William have always been popular on home soil, but their sudden acclaim in the US has left Harry and Meghan feeling “angry” and “struggling”, according to a royal expert.
Some commentators have said this week that Harry tried to "overshadow" Prince William's Earthshot Awards with a comedy video, after denying he had snubbed King Charles' birthday invite.
Tension was rife at the beginning of the year, when the Prince and Princess of Wales feared their popularity in America had plummeted following a string of damaging accusations made by Harry, 39, in his book Spare.
They were also “very concerned” about public opinion after Harry and Meghan, 42, claimed a member of the royal family is racist, allegedly questioning the colour of their then unborn son Archie's skin.
But now as the Wales’s fly high in American opinion polls – boosted by William’s visit to New York for the Earthshot Prize in September – Harry and Meghan have been left feeling furious.
Sarah Hewson, royal editor of Talk TV, exclusively told Fabulous: “Kate and William are making inroads into America, which wasn't a given because of what Harry and Meghan said on the Oprah interview, what was said on their Netflix documentary, and of course in Spare.

“It could have very much gone the other way for Kate and William and I think they were very concerned about how the American public might respond to these revelations.
“But it looks from the polling, that they are siding with Kate and William.”
She continued: “When William was in America he was right at the top of the polls, even beating homegrown leaders like Joe Biden and Donald Trump.
“He has really raised his profile as a global statesman – this week wooing crowds in Singapore – and now has a whole army of female fans after he waded around in his boots in the Hudson River.

“Meanwhile Catherine is growing in confidence and stature, and she looks like a Queen in waiting.
“The Americans love her. So I do think there will be a sense of frustration from Harry and Meghan seeing all of this play out. I think they will be feeling isolated and I think they will be angry.”
Kate and William’s popularity across the pond has coincided with their hiring of a top Hollywood producer.
They appointed Dame Pippa Harris – whose production company made Oscar nominated Revolutionary Road starring Kate Winslet and Leonardo Di Caprio – director of their Royal Foundation.
Dame Pippa, 56, who was the executive producer of hit BBC series Call The Midwife, will also be director of the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund Trustee Company.
Meghan moved back to the United States to build a life [with Harry] away from the royal family and it hasn’t gone the way she wanted
And according to Denise Palmer-Davies, director of celebrity PR firm Borne Media, Kate and William’s hiring of Dame Pippa, coupled with their soaring popularity Stateside, is “the ultimate revenge” on Harry and Meghan.
She explained: “Hiring someone like Dame Pippa, who is hugely successful in her field, shows they mean business.
“She has a very impressive CV, working with Hollywood directors like Sam Mendes, and she has helped produce BAFTA winning and Oscar nominated TV series and films.
“Kate and William already have plenty of high profile, celebrity connections here in the UK, but someone like Dame Pippa, who will have lots of contacts in the States, can only help propel their popularity over there.
“A full scale takeover of the States would be the ultimate revenge – after all of the damaging accusations made by the Sussexes, Kate and William are still more popular than them.
“It’s backfired on them spectacularly and I think that’s going to be tough for them to take. I don’t doubt that Harry and Meghan are now scratching their heads, wondering where it all went wrong.”
Since moving to America in 2020, the Sussexes have landed a number of lucrative deals, only for them to be axed.
Last year, Meghan’s animated Netflix series was dropped because "few children would care if the show they were watching had been produced by a duchess," and her Archetypes podcast was also canned, marking the end of her multi-million pound deal with Spotify.
I think Meghan and Harry are learning the hard way that if you are not part of the royal family, then you are a celebrity
And last week it was reported the couple have been warned they could lose their Netflix deal, rumoured to be worth $100million, if they don’t “come up with the goods.”
Sarah, who has interviewed six senior members of the royal family, says the couple are now “learning the hard way” and that Meghan in particular is “struggling."
She explained: “Meghan moved back to the United States to build a life [with Harry] away from the royal family and it hasn’t gone the way she wanted.
“OK, so the Netflix documentary was a big hit, but it did take its toll on their popularity because her Archetypes podcast was dropped. And there was talk of her teaming up with luxury brands that didn’t materialise.
“With Kate and William’s popularity soaring [in America], there must be a sense of this is ‘my turf’ and she is struggling with understanding why she is so unpopular.
“Are her and Harry now too toxic to work with? It will be interesting to see where her talent agents take her next, and I know there is talk of a book, but I think she is really grappling with what she will do next.”
Sarah added: “I think Meghan and Harry are learning the hard way that if you are not part of the royal family, then you are a celebrity.
“And being a celebrity is fickle business and you are out of favour as quickly as you are in it.”
