‘Kate’s got a really naughty sense of humour’, Prince William lifts lid on romance as The Crown retells love story | The Sun

KATE Middleton and Prince William first met back in 2001 when they moved into their residence halls at St Andrews University, Scotland.

The pair both studied History of Art, before William switched to Geography, and the Prince was immediately taken by “attractive Kate”.

And following Kate’s charity catwalk in a sheer dress, the pair moved in together alongside two pals.

It was at 13A Hope Street that their friendship turned into something more romantic and William looks back at that time fondly.

In 2011, the Prince opened up about their initial bond, explaining that it was Kate’s “naughty sense of humour” that won him over.

“We obviously met at university – at St Andrews, we were friends for over a year first and it just sort of blossomed,” he told ITV’s Tom Bradby.

“We just spent more time with each other, had a good giggle, had lots of fun and realised we shared the same interests and just had a really good time.

“She's got a really naughty sense of humour, which kind of helps me because I've got a really dry sense of humour, so it was good fun, we had a really good laugh and then things happened.”

He added that he “knew there was something very special” about Kate, and “there was possibly something I wanted to explore there.”

In 2004, their relationship went public as they were pictured skiing together in Switzerland looking very cosy.

Following their time at university, they continued dating until 2007, when they briefly split.

But they soon rekindled their relationship and William popped the question in Kenya. The pair married at Westminster Abbey in London on 29 April 2011.

They’ve since welcomed three children together: Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

And now they’re set to be portrayed by actors Ed McVey and Meg Bellamy on the Netflix show The Crown.

One photo from the set shows William staring lovingly at his future wife, another shows Kate running in a blue tracksuit as the Prince ran in the other direction.

The sixth and final season of The Crown is set to be released in two instalments with the first four episodes being released on 16 November while the remaining six will come out on 14 December this year.
