However, Matty from the US revealed a new trick where one can simply ‘slip’ the skin off a boiled potato in no time.
All you have to do is take a knife and slit a line into the middle of the potato skin going all around – but ensure you don’t cut into the flesh.
Then, boil the potatoes as usual and use your fingers to grip and pull the skin off once they have cooled down.

For a step-by-step instruction to safely practice the hack, first wash your potatoes and then use a knife to cut its circumference.
A home chef advised twirling the potato around and keeping the knife still to make sure the line is straight.
Then, place them in a pot with enough water to submerge the vegetables and turn the heat on for 15-20 minutes or until done.
It is best to make sure the potatoes are fork tender before trying the hack as it will not work as long as the vegetable is still raw.
Simply drain the water next and wait for the potatoes to cool down before slipping the skin off.

‘Did you know the reason why potato peelers swivel back and forth is so that you can not only go down, but forward when you’re peeling, so that you can peel the entire thing super fast?’ she asked.
‘You don’t have to actually lift up the peeler off of the vegetable.’
Most usually just assumed their cheap potato peeler was flimsy, but the shaky blade was designed with a purpose in mind.
