Martini makeup is taking over TikTok as the perfect party beauty look
Although Halloween makeup looks are dominating our timelines right now, there’s another beauty trend that’s making its way onto our radar – and it’s perfect for your upcoming Christmas parties.
With more than 2.5 million views and counting on TikTok, martini makeup is all about chanelling cocktail hour, and is set to be one of the hottest beauty trends this Christmas.
Taking inspiration from the classic drink’s elegance and glamour, martini makeup infuses hints of sparkle, shine and glossy sheens with universally flattering olive green shades, all of which add up to a recipe for the perfect festive makeup look.
Previously spotted on the likes of Gigi Hadid and Hailey Bieber, martini makeup includes shimmering metallic eyeshadows and liners, glittering highlighter and dewy-looking skin for an effortlessly chic finish with just the right amount of drama.
So, how do you achieve this perfect party look? Celebrity Permanent Makeup and Brow Artist and Founder ofBrows by Sarah,Sarah Amelia Fogg, gives us the run down.
According to Sarah, the look is all about starting with the right base. Dewy skin is the perfect foundation for martini makeup, and Sarah said: “Start with a light and glowy base to ensure that the look is luminous for the party season but not too full on. After all, the eyes are the main occasion tonight.”
Start with a base like Makeup Revolution’s Bright Light Face Glow Gleam Light, £9.99 here, before adding your favourite foundation on top, such as Fenty’s Beauty Eaze Drop Blur & Smooth Tint Stick, £22.40 here (was £28).
Sarah also suggests sticking with cream-based products for your blusher, bronzer and highlighter to help keep a natural, radiant glow, with products like Glow For It’s Blush Sticks, £14 here, Pink Honey Bronzing Face Frosting, £16.50 here, and the Laura Mercier RoseGlow Liquid Highlighter, £30 here, all perfect for creating a smooth, dewy finish.
Your eyes are the main focus of the martini makeup look, and you’re going to want metallic sheens and bold colours to make them the star of the show. Sarah said: “I personally love a champagne colour as it is complimentary to all skin tones and perfect for a special touch at Christmas time but this can be whatever your heart desires. Pack on your golds and metallics, or why not add a pop of emerald green and really go for it!”
To save money, pick an eyeshadow palette that has both gold and green tones that will help you build up your eyeshadow look, such as the By Beauty Bay Earthy 42 Colour Palette, £15 here (was £25), which has 42 different shades in both matte and metallic finishes, or the Makeup Revolution Ultimate Desire Shadow Palette Stripped Khaki, £5.39 here (was £5.99), for a handy handbag-sized palette you can use on the go.
You can also add a pop of sparkle to the corner of your eyes, cheekbones and cupids bow with a gold or silver eyeshadow, which mimics the glimmer of a freshly shaken martini and ties your eyeshadow into the rest of your makeup.
Finish off your look with sculpted brows and a semi-matte nude lipstick, and for some added sheen add a pop of lipgloss to the centre of your lips for a luminous, light-catching effect, before topping the whole lot with a dewy setting spray like Iconic London’s Prep-Set-Glow, £25 here, for a final dose of party-ready sparkle.
Now, will you be having your martini shaken, or stirred?
