It surrounds the life of Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck), better known as Batman, who has become a billionaire in the years following the death of his parents and has embraced his role of the mysterious vigilante of Gotham for the past twenty years. Simultaneously, Superman, formerly known as Clark Kent, played by Henry Cavill, has become a controversial figure ever since his battle against General Zod in first film. Diane Lane plays the role of of Martha Kent, Superman’s adopted mother. The film is centered around the CEO of LexCorp, Lex Luther (Jesse Eisenberg) and is obsession with defeating Superman. The movie follows the life of a young girl named Riley (Kaitlyn Dias) and the experiences she has in her mind based on the basic emotions she has that controls her behavior, namely Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), and Disgust (Mindy Kaling). Joy is the leader of the other five emotions, but at the age of 11, Riley moves from Minnesota to San Francisco with her Dad, voiced by Kyle MacLachlan, and her Mom, voiced by Diane Lane, for her Dad’s new job. This is when she begins to experience less joyful emotions, and Sadness turns her joyous memories sad. Joy and Sadness then forces to restore order to her emotions.

Based on the DC Comics superhero character, Superman, Warner Bros. Pictures released Man of Steel in 2013. Directed by Zack Snyder, the film explains the story of Superman beginning with his life on the planet Krypton. The planet has been destabilizing due to the consistent mining of the planet’s core. The supreme council chief advisor for Krypton, Jor-El, portrayed by Russell Crowe, infuses his son Kal-El, who is the first naturally born child in Krypton for centuries, with the genetics codex. Jor-El sends Kal-El toward Earth in a spacecraft before dying by the hands of General Zod (Michael Shannon), leader of the mutiny on Krypton. He lands in Kansas where he is adopted by Jonathan and Marth Kent (Kevin Costner and Diane Lane) and they name him Clark. He develops superpowers as he ages, and he is advised to keep them hidden to live a normal life. The film grossed $667.999 million globally.

In nearly every movie where Superman (Henry Cavill) appears, you can expect to see Diane Lane featured as his adoptive mother, Martha Kent. So when the superhero film, Justice League, came out in 2017, Lane was again a part of the movie’s cast. The film follows the story of Steppenwolf (Ciarán Hinds) and his extraterrestrial legion of Parademons who tried to rule the Earth once before using the energies of Three Mother Boxes thousands of years ago. However, he failed due to the unified alliance of the Olympian Gods, Amazons, Atlanteans, humanity, and E.Ts. However, after Steppenwolf retrieves one of the Mother Boxes, he is motivated to find the one protected by humanity to try again to rule the world. Lane’s next film is likely one of the best biographical disaster drama films that have been released in the 21st century. The Perfect Storm, released in the year 2000, was also based on the creative non-fiction novel of the same name written by Sebastian Junger. The film follows the captain of the Andrea Gail commercial swordfishing boat named Captain Billy Tyne, played by George Clooney. After he is ridiculed for having a long season of poor catches, he aims to redeem himself and heads back out with his crew for a late-season fishing trip. His crew consists of Murph (John C. Reilly), Sully (William Fichtner), Bugsy (John Hawkes), Alfred (Allen Payne), and Bobby played by Mark Wahlberg, who is the love interest of Diane Lane’s character, Christina. If you had the uncommon ability to defy space and time by “jumping” across seas and oceans, what would you do? In the 2008 science fiction film, Jumper, the main character, David Rice, is played by Hayden Christensen who learns the supernatural ability to “jump” while in high school and obtains an opulent lifestyle from entering into multiple bank vaults. However, his abilities catch the attention of a secret society of assassins called the Paladins, led by Roland Cox, portrayed by Samuel L. Jackson, who have taken an oath to kill all “Jumpers.” David goes to find his love interest from high school, Millie (Rachel Bilson) and they both end up being hunted by Roland. He then finds out that his long-lost mother, Mary (Diane Lane) is also a Paladin. The film grossed a cool $222.64 million.

Still very much in her prime in 2002, Diane Lane appeared in an erotic thriller titled Unfaithful. The name of the movie is a dead giveaway of what to expect, but it’s not the typical Idris Elba and Beyonce Knowles type of obsession. It follows Edward Sumner (Richard Gere), his wife Connie Sumner (Diane Lane), and their eight-year-old son who live in Westchester County, New York. While the couple’s relationship is loving, it’s largely uneventful and lacking fireworks. Connie accidentally bumps into a stranger named Paul Martel (Olivier Martinez) who, after a few private visits to his home, becomes romantically involved in an affair with him. Edward catches her in a lie and finds out about her affair, which leads to him killing Paul. The film grossed a total of $119.114 million.

Taken directly from the 2000 AD comics character, Judge Dredd is a superhero film that was released in 1995. Playing the role of the main star, Judge Joseph Dredd, Sylvester Stallone acts as a law-enforcement officer in an advanced metropolis society in 2139 where the traditional justice system has been reinstated by a corps of Judges who bear the responsibilities of police officer, judge, jury, and executioner. Joseph assists his colleague, fellow Judge Barbara Hershey (Diane Lane) in ending a block war. Meanwhile, a former judge named Rico, portrayed by Armand Assante, escapes prison and returns to Mega-City One to retrieve his uniform and firearm. Shortly after, a news reporter named Vartis Hammond who is highly critical of Dredd is murdered, making Dredd the chief suspect since his DNA is found on every bullet used. Dredd learns that Rico was freed by Judge Griffin (Jürgen Prochnow) to frame him so that he can become Chief Justice. The film grossed $113.487 million internationally.

Nights in Rodanthe is a romantic drama film that follows the life of Adrienne Willis (Diane Lane) who is in the middle of getting a divorce from her husband Jack, played by Christopher Meloni, after it is revealed that he is leaving her for another woman. Jack wishes to come back home with Adrienne, but she temporarily dismisses the idea and goes to Rodnathe, North Carolina to look after her friend Jean’s (Viola Davis) bed-and-breakfast for the weekend. There she finds surgeon named Paul Flanner (Richard Gere) who is the weekend guest. The two are emotionally vulnerable with each other, and soon fall in love. Sadly, Paul dies in a mudslide in Ecuador while attempting to rekindle a relationship with his son Mark, portrayed by James Franco. The film grossed $79.35 million globally.

Although Lane’s character Penny Chenery, the real star of the movie is the race horse she owns, named Secretariat. After the death of her mother, Penny returns to her hometown to take over Meadow Stables from her ailing father, Christopher Chenery (Scott Glenn). Together with the help of a French Canadian trainer named Lucien Laurin, played by John Malkovich, and a jockey named Ron Turcotte, she wins the Kentucky Derby and restores dignity to her family name. The film grossed $60.376 million at the box office.
