The mum-of-one who used to play Lucy Beale on the BBC soap donned a matching black lingerie set as she hit out at the troll.
The Instagram cruelly user told her: "You cute but your belly fat isn't".
To which, she responded: "Wrong, it's cute as hell," while showing off her curves.
She captioned the post showing off the online hate: "Actual DM I received from a faceless account (they’re always faceless, aren’t they?)
"Also, actual DM I laughed at, disregarded, and then carried on living my life in SPITE of. I’ve spoken a bit recently about our ‘mean inner voice, but sometimes our mean inner voice actually belongs to someone else, and it’s pretty out loud. And it can be really difficult to ignore or brush off. Fear of what others might say is a HUGE reason why we feel negatively about our own bodies. It’s why we avoid wearing certain outfits, speaking up, trying new things. The fear of being judged, laughed at, criticised."
Melissa added: "Let me tell you- you start having a lot more fun once you start acting in spite of the fear. You acknowledge it, you spend your time with it, and then you say F*CK IT. Does a fear of what others might say about your body have an impact on your relationship with it? Share this reel if you’ve got a cute lil belly!"
Fans of the star were quick to flood the comment section to support her.
One said: "I really can't tell you how much I appreciate seeing a body like mine represented in a positive light like this. Thank you, so, so much."
A second added: "You're gorgeous!! They could NEVER be you babe! Keep slaying!"
"You're a breath of fresh air," a third penned.
