Gary Barlow admits fighting sunbed war on holiday – racing to lay towel at dawn
Singer Gary Barlow has revealed that he’s a typical Brit abroad – getting up at a the crack of dawn to put towels on sun loungers.
The 52-year-old Take That star said he was also guilty of getting ‘frazzled’ in the sun when abroad on hols.
The dad-of-three – best known for hits like Shine, Never Forget and Back for Good – said he learned the ropes of how Brits ‘holiday abroad’ on a trip to Ibiza when he was 17.

He said: “My first holiday without my parents was when I was 17 and a group of us went to Ibiza.
“There was a swimming pool at the hotel and whoever was awake first would race down and put our towels on the loungers.
“We’d sit in the sun all day, putting on baby oil to make sure we got a tan.
“My shoulders would be bright red; so burnt that I couldn’t put a shirt on. It was classically British.”
A recent study found that Brits were ahead of all others when it came to nabbing a sun lounger in the early hours.
A poll of 16,000 holidaymakers found that 62% of Brits admitted hanging towels over hotel sun loungers, compared to 53% of Germans, 45% of French, and 41% of Italians.
