Loose Women’s Kaye Adams in new court battle over historic £124,000 tax dispute
Loose Women star Kaye Adams is being brought to court to deal with a tax dispute totalling over £124,000.
HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) claim that the BBC Radio Scotland presenter, 60, owes over £81,000 in unpaid income tax. In addition to this, the Scotswoman has allegedly not paid over £43,000 worth of National Insurance contributions as a result of working as a "disguised employee".
The tax office says that whilst Adams was hosting her show on BBC Radio Scotland between 2013 and 2019, Adams was put under specific rules that prevent freelances from avoiding paying tax. This ensures that those working on freelance contracts pay around the same amount as those who have a permanent contract at the business.

The former Strictly star, however, insists that she was self-employed at the time, opting to work on several other projects including ITV panel show Loose Women. As a result, by stating she was self-employed, she believes that she was not subject to the rules put in place.
The case has been heard before in the Upper Tribunal in 2021. The judge presiding over the case ruled in favour of Adams, but HMRC appealed the decision soon after.
Court proceedings are already underway and Jeff Zycinski, Head of Radio at BBC Scotland at the time, has responded declaring that he "wasn’t aware" of such a policy as he wasn’t involved in contractual discussions. He added, however, that rules at the BBC were "rolled out in quite a haphazard fashion".
Adams continues to present Loose Women, having appeared on Thursday's edition of the show (October 12). Joined by Nadia Sawalha, Jane Moore and Linda Robson, she made a horrific admission during the show.
Whilst talking about their favourite weird combinations, Kaye confessed that whilst she was a vegetarian she enjoyed dipping a KitKat into a bowl of oxtail soup. Her revelation stunned and shocked her fellow panellists and the studio audience, who grimaced and sighed in horror.
Fellow panellist Nadia, who had gotten other Loose Women to try her "Coffee-Cola-ta", was left horrified at Kaye's admission. "You and I and food, we must never discuss it. It's disgraceful," she lamented.
