BBC Breakfast star suffers wardrobe malfunction live on air

Ben Thompson suffered a wardrobe malfunction during today’s BBC Breakfast.

The presenter was hosting the latest programme alongside Sarah Campbell when the issue arose.

An eagle-eyed viewer spotted the problem while he was speaking to chief political correspondent Ben Zeffman about the upcoming Labour Party Conference.

The fan took to X, formerly Twitter, to highlight Ben had a hole under the right arm of his suit.

His white shirt could be clearly seen underneath as he held onto his notes with the other hand.

Ben made a quip as he later responded to the user in question, thankfully taking it well.

@kevinrowley996 had tweeted: “#BBCBreakfast hello breakfast team can you please tell Ben he has a hole in his jacket under his right arm.

“I just wanted to let him know ok.”(sic)

The television regular replied in view of his own 48,000 followers: “Don’t know my own strength! Thanks for spotting!”

It comes just hours after he and co-star Naga Munchetty suffered an awkward moment on the show yesterday.

Weather presenter Matt Taylor had told the pair: “It won’t be until we get to around Thursday before we start to see the cooler conditions return to the south of the country, so it will stay warm until the start of next week. Back to you Ben and Naga.”

Naga, 48, replied: “So on the tail of north and south, some people would be very happy with those temperatures, I heard someone say the other day, I like the seasons, I like the fact that we have seasons, I don’t want summer to carry on.”

It was then that Matt responded: “Completely different seasons, but to go with the rain across Scotland, believe it or not there could be some snow across the mountains, so how is that for contrast?”

Naga added: “Oh I wish I hadn’t asked now, I thought it would be a milder contrast than that.”

Ben added, light-heartedly: “Too far, Matt, too far.”

He first joined Breakfast as a producer, before moving in front of the camera back in 2008.
