Casualty teases popular character's return after eight years – and Max Christie's fate | The Sun

CASUALTY has teased the return of Zoe Hanna and Max Christie's fate in a new trailer.

The latest announcement about the BBC hospital drama taking a TV break has left fans desperately missing the show and wanting their 'fix on Saturday night.'

To ease the pain, the BBC has dropped a new Casualty trailer, showing the return of the much-loved character Zoe, played by Sunetra Sarker, while teasing several other characters' fate.

Fans of the show will have to wait patiently to see what happens in the new season, as the Casualty "X"(Twitter) account announced on September 23 that the show is on a hiatus.

The show returned for an astounding 38th season just a few weeks ago, but following a double episode last week, it is now off-screen until further notice.

The post, accompanied by the trailer, was captioned: "Casualty is on a break and will be back on your screens later this year."

Show fans were displeased with the latest update and hastily replied to the post, penning down their opinions as one user said: "I hope it's not a long break… I need my Casualty fix on Saturday night."

Another added: "Good to know, but I will miss this show. I hope Zoe is back for good. Also, I hope Max only has a short break. I can't wait for an epic return."

A third simply wrote: "Going to miss this Casualty."

An outraged fourth user exclaimed: "What, and we get The Wheel & Blankety Blank replacing it won't be watching @BBCOne."

Meanwhile, a fifth pleaded: "I'm going to miss watching this on Saturday night. Please don't go for too long."

However, Zoe's return is bittersweet for many viewers as it ties in with the exit storyline for the show's longest-running character, Charlie Fairhead, played by Derek Thompson.

Sunetra revealed earlier this month that she had returned to shoot Charlie's final scenes after seven years of not being on Holby ED.

While appearing as a panellist on Loose Women, she teased the hosts and viewers: "This week, I was in the hospital but not as a patient, I might have gone back to a certain hospital that I used to work at.

"It's been a while! Eight years nearly since I've been there. I'm going back for a special double episode because our lovely Charlie, who's been there forever, is going to leave the show.

"So, I'm going back to make sure I get my last little moment with him. That was a really nice thing this week, I've been filming with them."

The trailer also hinted at the fate of Nigel Harman's character, Dr Max Christie, as he clutched his chest and collapsed to the ground.

The character of Max has been battling kidney disease in the drama, but Nigel is currently competing in Strictly.

Casualty is available on BBC iPlayer.
