Dancing On Ice in crisis as Holly Willoughby hasn’t signed deal to host series just weeks away
Dancing On Ice is rumoured to be in chaos as Holly Willoughby is said to still not have signed up to host the series – despite the launch being just weeks away.
Holly, 42, has hosted the ITV celebrity skating contest since it started in 2006, apart from three series where Christine Lampard stood in for her, but her long-time co-host Phillip Schofield quit TV earlier this year.
Phil left This Morning after his affair with a much younger colleague emerged and his other work commitments at ITV have since been cancelled.
Holly was expected to stay fronting Dancing On Ice, but also quit This Morning in October when a man was charged over an alleged plot to kidnap and murder her.
She said of quitting daytime TV: "I now feel I have to make this decision for me and my family. I will miss you all so much."
Holly has stayed out of the public eye since discovering the horrifying charges and according to The Sun, she has still not signed up to present Dancing On Ice 2024 which is due to start in January.
An insider said: "In many ways the producers of Dancing on Ice are in limbo until they can resolve the issue of who’ll be steering the ship when the show returns."
They added: "It’s a very precarious position to be in when they have all the crew and a group of celebrities already working towards the first show, but nobody nailed on to present it."
Stephen Mulhern has said he has held talks with Dancing On Ice bosses over whether he could step in for Phil, having covered for the presenter in the past when he had Covid.
The new Deal Or No Deal host said: "I absolutely loved it with Holly. We had a great time. And the response on social media was amazing. We are talking about Dancing On Ice. But I promise you now nothing has been agreed.
"I've not said yes, and I haven't said no. Would I do it? I think it'd be silly not to do it. But nothing has been fully agreed. It would be great to work with Holly again."
The cast – which includes Ryan Thomas, Claire Sweeney and Adele Roberts – has already been announced and the celebrities have been training hard ahead of their January launch.
An ITV spokesperson told OK! on the hosting line-up: "Further announcements regarding Dancing on Ice will be made in due course."
