Angela Scanlons Strictly partner Carlos Gu seen with bloody face hours before show

Carlos Gu has suffered a facial injury ahead of the second Strictly Come Dancing live show, with his dance partner Angela Scanlon revealing she accidentally head butted him in rehearsals.

Strictly pro Carlos, 29, is competing on this year's series of the BBC One show with TV presenter Angela, 39, and the duo have been keeping their fans updated on social media with their dancing journey and have shared several behind the scenes clips and photos.

Ahead of their second live performance, Angela took to Instagram to post a series of snaps of her and Carlos, including a selfie of the professional dancer with a bloody nose.

Carloscan be seen holding a tissue to his nostril, with fresh blood clearly visible. Angela then explained what had happened in the caption, revealing Carlos had been hit with an "accidental head butt" while rehearsing their dance.

She penned: "Another week with this glorious mad egg. Tonight we JIVE. Sweet mother it is intense & relentless but I love it & can’t wait for you to see. I’ve never sweated so much in my life… thank you @gkx_carlos for teaching me about the chicken hand, demonstrating the kicks over & over again & graciously taking an accidental head butt (one a week)."

Angela sweetly added: "You are the best we’re back on @bbcstrictly tonight 6.20pm x and tonight you can VOTE so if you love it do your thing. Thank you so so much xx".

Fans flocked to wish the pair well ahead of the second live show, which will air on 30 September, with fellow TV star Jeff Braizer saying: "Good luck," while another said: "You guys are amazing Can't wait to watch tonight and of course to vote for Team Angelos!!"

A third person wrote: "I will be sat in my living room routing for you and Carlos all the way and from what have seen from your jive/ kicks and flicks you will be amazing," and a fourth penned: "You've got this Angela," with a heart emoji.

Strictly Come Dancing kicked off on Saturday 23 September on BBC One, with a new set of celebrities taking to the dance floor. This year's line up includes Zara McDermott, Ellie Leach, Les Dennis, Adam Thomas and Amanda Abbington.

The first live show saw ex-EastEnders star Nigel Harman and Strictly pro Katya Jones top the leaderboard with an impressive 32 points out of a possible 40. Other pairings that impressed included Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola as well as Amanda Abbington and Giovanni Pernice.
