Christine McGuiness looks forward to the new year after divorce from Paddy

Christine McGuinness says she was home for Paddy's birthday

Christine McGuiness has admitted that she has been battling a “difficult” time amid her divorce from her husband Paddy McGuinness.

In a new interview, Christine, 35, admitted that her mother has been her rock since separating.

Back in July last year, the couple publicly announced their split, calling time on their 11-year marriage.

Despite ending the relationship, they have remained living in their family home in Cheshire.

Christine revealed she is looking forward to seeing the back of 2023 and plans to start the new year “with a bang”.

She told The Mirror: “I am obviously going through a difficult divorce right now, things are hard, but I will always continue to smile and the reason is because I am my mother’s daughter, she has instilled that in me”.

Crediting her mother, she added: “She has been my rock and is a huge inspiration to me.”

The couple have three children, twins Penelope, and Leo, ten, and Felicity, seven – all of the children have autism.

Back in 2021, Christine announced that she discovered she also has autism.

With both Christine and the children having autism, altering routines has been particularly tough on the family.

In August Paddy celebrated his 50th birthday at their family mansion.

Christine confessed she was “smiling” despite wanting to “cry” inside.

However, the star said that she is doing “ok” despite her ongoing struggles.

“Obviously there are a lot of changes going on and it’s not easy but I am really looking forward to 2024. I know you shouldn’t wish your life away but I am looking forward to this year being over and starting next year fresh with a bang. I really want to focus on the positives and make the most of a new year and new opportunities.

She went on to praise her mum: “My mum has always been my biggest supporter. She is the only person apart from their daddy who I would trust to look after my kids overnight. She has always been amazing.

“She was incredible when they were first diagnosed and has always seemed to just get them. She is always there for me and for them.”
