Coleen Rooney breaks silence on Wayne’s cheating scandal

Coleen Rooney broke her silence and told how they had “screaming matches” over Wayne Rooney’s infidelity.

Speaking about the incident which took place in 2002, in her autobiography, when the former England captain was 16, she admittedly questioned the future of their relationship.

In an extract obtained by The Daily Mail, Coleen, 37, recalled the moment he told her what took place at the brothel in Liverpool.

In her autobiography, My Account, she wrote: “The full story was that when he was sixteen, Wayne had visited prostitutes in a Liverpool massage parlour. When Wayne sat me down and told me it was true and that the story was about to break in the national press I was confused and hurt. I couldn’t even speak to him.”

The mum of four said she felt “ashamed” and agonised over what people would think about Wayne.

Coleen explained despite the hurt she didn’t want to make any rash decisions while angry.

She added: “Dealing with that kind of thing was heart-breaking enough, but I was eighteen–years–old. I was upset and confused, not knowing what to think or how others might react.”

After some weeks, she decided to accept Wayne’s apology.

The documentary-maker went on to say that her other half was devastated about putting her in that situation.

“I was still fuming, of course, and there were definitely a few screaming matches in the days to come. In the end though, I accepted that this had happened a long time ago and that we were stronger now, more committed,” she added.

Wayne made a public apology to fans and his fiancèe at the time of the incident and went on to admit to sleeping with unnamed prostitutes.

He said: “Foolish as it now seems I did on occasions visit massage parlours and prostitutes.

“I now regret it deeply and hope people may understand that it was the sort of mistake you make when you are young and stupid. It was at a time when I was very young and immature.”

The couple, who have four children – Kai, 14, Klay, ten, Kit, seven, and Cass, five, began dating as teenagers and got engaged in October 2003.

The Rooneys tied the knot in the summer of 2008 in an Italian ceremony and in 2009, they welcomed their first son, Kai following a miscarriage some months before.

Coleen has since released her bombshell Disney+ tell-all documentary The Real Wagatha Story that details all about her legal battle with Rebekah Vardy.
