James Haskell admits ‘I need to change’ after spending time away from wife Chloe

James Haskell has reflected on spending time away from his wife Chloe Madeley and their baby daughter Bodhi, as he revealed: “I need to change.”

Last week, Chloe, 36, was spotted on a night out without her wedding ring, with her relationship with James, 38, placed firmly under the microscope.

The couple welcomed their daughter, Bodhi, 14 months ago, however, the switch to parenthood doesn’t seem to have slowed down James’ party lifestyle.

But, in a recent interview, the former Wasps RFC flanker has now admitted that he is keen to show just how much admiration he has for his wife.

“Chloe picks up the flak way more than I do though when it comes to parenting – she is much more hands-on,” he said during an interview with OK! Magazine.

“I was away a lot but as Bodhi gets older, I’m learning that I need to change and adjust things. She is a massive priority and every moment with her is precious.

“When I’m back I try to make up for it, so it’s a balancing act. Do I always get it right? Probably not. Will I endeavour to be better? Yes, of course.”

His comments come after he partied in Paris for the England vs South Africa rugby match on Saturday – just days after being pictured in seemingly cosy photos with PR executive Martine Bridge.

The former rugby player was seen whispering into her ear outside Chiltern Firehouse, London, at 1.30am that week. After the picture emerged, the sportsman insisted it was just a friendly interaction.

Back in 2020, the daughter of Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan opened up about the difficulties that she and her husband had endured.

Chloe admitted she and James went through “trust issues and power struggles” with the goal being to “eventually reach an understanding”.

The mum-of-one also noted that without “an accepted degree of push-pull” within a relationship, “no couple can go the distance”.

Chloe is said to be seeking support from her famous parents, with Richard preparing to “have words” with his son-in-law.

A source claimed to OK! Magazine: “Chloe is leaning very heavily on her mum and dad. They’re very, very close and very supportive and they don’t want her to be unhappy.

“Her mum and dad are really involved in their lives together, especially since they became grandparents to Bodhi. They’re really hands-on.”
