Katie Price hits out at panto bosses over insulting songs despite £60k salary

Katie Price discusses her preparations for panto

Katie Price has levelled criticism at panto bosses over the Christmas songs she has to sing while portraying her upcoming role of Carabosse in Sleeping Beauty. The mother-of-five has been busy rehearsing for the shows, which will take place at Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena.

However, she took time out to lay into the song choices, despite being paid a whopping 60k to belt them out in front of a live audience. Discussing the show’s songs with sister Sophie on their The Katie Price Show podcast, she complained: “I’m not from the West End, right, and these songs aren’t singing, they’re more like talking.

“I don’t know how to learn it. It’s not even the kind of music I would listen to.”

Her sister then laughed as the former glamour model revealed that producers had explained they gave her songs they felt were suitable for her vocal ability.

“What an insult!” she said. “‘We’ve given her songs that we know she can sing’. I think even dad could sing ’em.”

Katie, however, went on to encourage her fans to buy tickets, saying: “Watch me make a fool of myself, forget the lines and just mess up.”

While listeners would undoubtedly see the humour in Katie’s rant, they were decidedly unimpressed by her other antics earlier this week.

The star was “mum-shamed” by trolls for “swearing too much” on the previous episode of her podcast, where she was joined by BBC’s This Country and Am I Being Unreasonable? star Daisy May Cooper.

Katie started the conversation by telling Daisy she could swear as much as she pleased, and the actress certainly took advantage.

“I would love for us two to train as f***ing exorcist priests and go around with all the f***ing gear on and do all that, you know,” Daisy told the mum-of-five.

“We’d look f***ing great in priest outfits, wouldn’t we?” Katie replied: “We would! Have all our hair and make-up done. We’ll be the glam squad, the glam exorcists.”

One listener fumed on Katie’s Instagram page, where she boasts 2.6 million followers: “How common all the swearing and people are tuning in to listen to this.”

Another said: “Lovely gob she’s got.” A third commented: “Why do you need to swear you would have more people watch if you did a little f*** here and there, but not every time you open your mouth.”

But another got particularly personal and questioned Katie’s parenting. “KP really doesn’t care if her kids hear all that foul language does she?” they wrote. “Now she’s trying to cosy up to Daisy for a part in one of her shows. KP you’re a bit predictable!”

While a fifth simply stated: “Potty mouth!”, a sixth branded the podcast episode: “Unlistenable because of the swearing and hideous inarticulacy.”
