Paul Young reflects on ‘mistakes’ in ‘love and life’ as he announces engagement

1980s icon Paul Young is in for a busy year as he prepares to marry his new girlfriend Lorna on top of touring the country both solo and with his band, Los Pacaminos.

The band, formed in 1992, recently released their third album, Seven, and will be embarking on their Christmas On The Range Tour next month.

Teasing what fans can look forward to in the nearly sold-out shows, Paul, 67, told Express.co.uk: “We’ve got the new album out so we will be featuring about four songs from the new album, a lot of it will have a dance flavour and it has an element of humour in most of the songs.

“I think it is the kind of music that you can identify with if you are above a certain age.

“We still make mistakes in love and life and we say, ‘I’m never going to make that mistake again’, and then we go diving into the next part of our life and make the same mistakes.”

Paul’s tour with Los Pacaminos comes hot on the heels of his Behind the Lens solo tour which concludes on November 12.

Amidst his packed schedule, Paul announced two weeks ago that he proposed to his stunning girlfriend Lorna, 45, after five years of dating.

Sharing a sweet snap of the loved-up pair on Instagram, Paul told his 48k followers: “Lorna said yes! We are both so happy and both looking forward to a wonderful future together.”

The engagement comes five years after Paul was made a widower following the death of his wife of 30 years, Stacey Smith.

Paul married the model in 1987 after meeting four years earlier on the set of his music video for Come Back and Stay.

They had three children: daughters Levi, 36, Layla, 29, and son Grady, 27.

Paul’s wife-to-be, Lorna, also has a son named Aaron from a previous relationship.

Paul and Stacey briefly split in 2006. During that time, she had a son, Jude, with businessman Ilan Slazenger.

They reconciled in 2009 and Stacey was tragically diagnosed with brain cancer seven years later. Sadly, she lost her fight and died in 2018.
