Phil Vickery addresses love life after being seen with ex Fern Britton’s mate

Celebrity chef Phil Vickery has hinted at his relationship status amid rumours he is dating his ex-wife Fern Britton’s best friend.

The TV cook, who appears on This Morning, was pictured kissing Lorraine Stanton as they left a London hotel together last month.

However, Phil has since broken his silence following the snaps, taken with who is thought to be his ex’s pal – insisting they are “just mates”.

Taking to Instagram today, Phil, 62, addressed his love life again as he revealed his daughter has poked fun at him for being “old and single”.

“My daughter asked me, ‘Dad, you may be old and be single’. I replied, ‘I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it,’ albeit it may be in a wheelchair,” he posted on his Instagram Stories.

Phil and Fern were married for 20 years before they announced their split in January 2020.

Earlier this week, Fern commented on the image of her ex Phil and friend Lorraine, writing on Twitter: “Good morning all. Just to clear up any concerns. It is not true.”

When quizzed about a potential new romance, Phil told MailOnline: “Could not possibly comment on that because she’s just a friend.”

He added: “We’re just mates having lunch for goodness sake.”

Asked if ex-wife Fern, 65, was satisfied with his explanation he added: “Yes, she put a tweet out. There you go, we’re friends.”

The pair met while on the much-loved cooking show Ready Steady Cook back in the 90s, in which Phil made over 200 appearances between 1996 and 2010.

Speaking about the beginnings of their romance, Fern told The Telegraph in 2016: “The boys were four; Grace hadn’t even started toddling.

“I remember thinking at the time that nobody was going to take a 40-something woman with three kids.

“Then, one day at work, someone said, ‘Phil Vickery fancies you.’ And I went, ‘Remind me – which one is he?'”

They went on to wed in 2000, however, in January 2020, they announced they had split up.

The former couple share a daughter together, Winnie, who was born in August 2001.

Fern also has twins Harry and Jack, and daughter Grace with her ex Clive Jones.
