Phillip Schofield looks downcast as hes seen for first time since Hollys This Morning exit

Phillip Schofield has been seen for the first time since Holly Willoughby announced she had quit This Morning after 14 years of presenting the ITV show.

Phillip, 61, was spotted in West London on Thursday 12 October looking downcast as he crossed a road to get into a car. The former TV presenter cut a casual figure in a grey jumper, jeans and a pair of dark red Converse trainers as he made his way down the street.

It marked the first time Phillip has been seen since his former co-host Holly, 42, dramatically quit This Morning – four months after Phillip walked away from the daytime TV show.

Phillip quit the show himself in May this year, after he admitted to a relationship with a younger male former colleague. It also led to his departure from ITV. An external review of the facts after Phillip's departure is currently underway and ITV bosses have said both Phillip and his former lover “repeatedly denied” allegations of a relationship until the star quit ITV and formally apologised.

Holly continued to present the show with stand-in hosts, including Craig Doyle, Dermot O'Leary and Alison Hammond, but on 10 October she announced the time had come for her to quit This Morning – a decision she made her for herself and her family.

The mum-of-three, who fronted the ITV show with Phillip for 14 years, shared the news on social media. Her statement read: "I have let ITV know today that after 14 years, I will not be returning to This Morning. To everyone who has ever worked on the show over the years, thank you so so much."

She continued: “This is such a difficult goodbye, you are incredible and I forever will be proud of what we’ve done together. Thank you to everyone at ITV for being supportive. To every guest who has sat on our sofa, thank you.

“Most of all, thank you to the wonderful viewers. You’ve been so loyal, so supportive and the very best company every day. Richard and Judy said ‘we only look after this show, it will always belong to the viewers’. It’s been an honour to just be part of its story and I know this story has many chapters left to go.

“Sadly, however, I now feel I have to make this decision for me and my family. I will miss you all so much. Holly," she concluded her statement.

It's yet to be revealed who will be replacing Holly on the show and it has not been confirmed whether she and Phillip with host the upcoming series of Dancing On Ice.

The duo began presenting the skating competition together in 2006, and while the full celebrity line-up for January's series has been released, the presenters for 2024's Dancing on Ice are yet to be unveiled.
