Rylan Clark unveils very extravagant Big Brother birthday purchase for himself

Rylan Clarke purchases classic Big Brother diary room chair

Rylan Clark has revealed he now has the iconic Big Brother Diary Room chair in his house – as an early birthday present to himself.

The former X Factor star, who won Celebrity Big Brother in 2013, celebrates his 35th birthday next Wednesday – but that hasn’t stopped him from treating himself early.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Rylan uploaded a video of himself sitting on the same red chair used in Big Brother 2004, the fifth series of the reality television series.

In the video, the Eurovision commentator can be seen attempting to mimic the meltdowns of that series’ winner, Nadia Almada.

Captioning his post, Rylan penned: “When you buy the original Big Brother 5 Diary Room Chair as a bday present to yourself. As the ultimate fanboy, I couldn’t resist adding this to my collection. Nadia, when you coming over?”

Rylan’s new purchase comes after he admitted he was left “devastated” to not be invited back on Big Brother as a host – despite “presuming” he would continue his legacy on the show.

The 34-year-old followed in the footsteps of Davina McCall when he presented Big Brother’s Bit on the Side until 2018.

And while there was much speculation on Rylan returning to his role for the reboot, the new presenters were revealed as AJ Odudu and Will Best.

Speaking about how he had hoped to be a part of the show, former It Takes Two host Rylan admitted his heartbreak.

Appearing on Loose Women last month, Rylan said: “So, obviously, Big Brother was a massive part of my life, it was favourite thing in the world to do.

“For the past five years, since it’s been off I’ve been very vocal saying it should come back. In my eyes, it was and still is the best reality show out there, the real reality show.

“And at that point, I didn’t know what was going on with Big Brother and I said very much that I hope I’m a part of it.

“I just sillily presumed I’d be asked back, I knew Emma [Willis] wasn’t going back, she’s a good friend of mine, and I wasn’t, it didn’t transpire to be.”

Proving there were no hard feelings about being shunned, Rylan took to Instagram ahead of Big Brother’s launch earlier this month to wish the new presenters good luck.

He wrote: “Good luck to team @bbuk. Have a fantastic series and welcome back Big Bro x.”

Big Brother airs Sundays to Friday at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX. Each episode is followed by Big Brother Late & Live at 10pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
