Sweden’s King Carl XVI Gustaf posed for an official portrait to mark his 50th anniversary on the throne.

This official jubilee year portrait was taken in the Rikssalen at Royal Palace and show the silver throne from Queen Kristina’s coronation in 1650.

The king wore an admiral’s uniform with the chains of the Order of the Seraphim, the Order of the Sword, the Order of the North Star and the Order of Vasa. Around his neck, the King wore the Grand Commander’s insignia of the Order of Dannebrog, an order that’s only awarded to the Danish monarch’s closest relatives.

Swedish and Norwegian royal commemorative medals are also visible under the chains of orders.
