Arc'Teryx To Open First-Ever Archive Exhibition in Tokyo
Innovative Canadian outerwear label Arc’Teryx is preparing to open its first-ever archival exhibition in Shibuya, Tokyo. The showcase, titled “ARC’HIVES,” will house 40 individual pieces from the brand’s history, illustrating the evolution of its utilitarian and technical design practice.
The exhibition opens in tandem with the release of the 10th iteration of Arc’Teryx’s quintessential ALPHA SV JACKET. The latest edition of the silhouette features a durable construction made entirely from recycled materials, and the soon-to-open gallery will highlight the changing shapes of the iconic silhouette.
Arc’Teryx operates with the belief that “durability is the path to sustainability,” maintaining a conscious approach to its environmental impact through diligent textile research and long-term design strategies. In addition to the ALPHA SV JACKET, the exhibition will spotlight the THETA AR JACKET from the brand’s shell series, which was first released in 1998. New iterations of the coat adopt a GORE-TEX® Pro waterproof fabric with a breathable laminate for ample protection in various climates, and the gallery will display the design’s technological evolution over the last two decades.
Arc’Teryx’s “ARC’HIVES” exhibition will be open from November 1 to 5 inside Hz-Shibuya located at 4-3 Udagawa-cho in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo. Admission will be free for all visitors.
