Basquiat Estate To Release 50 Vinyls of the Late Artist’s “Beat Bop”
The Basquiat family and estate will be releasing a limited number of vinyls from the late artist. While Jean-Michel Basquiat was largely known for his painting work, he had also launched his own label, Tarrytown Records.
Through his label, Basquiat produced a song called “Beat Bop” for Rammellzee and K-Rob. He also pressed vinyl in-house and made its cover art. Today, the vinyl is widely regarded as among the rarest in hip-hop.
In an upcoming sale, just 50 of the 500 vinyls in existence will be hitting the market. All proceeds from the event will go to the non-profit organization A Place Called Home, benefitting arts education for youth in Los Angeles.
Beginning November 2, half of the available vinyls will be sold via Phillips’ Dropshop for $4,000 USD each. The other half will go on sale in December through the King Pleasure exhibition store.
