Jonnie Irwin delights fans with exciting announcement about return to TV

Jonnie Irwin has made an exciting announcement that will be music to the ears of fans who’ve missed seeing him on their TV screens.

The A Place in the Sun presenter, 49, is taking things at a much slower pace now after being diagnosed with terminal cancer.

Jonnie doesn’t know how long he has left to live after a tumour in his lung spread to his brain.

The star recently admitted that he wasn’t feeling so great and vented his frustrations as his cancer is ‘on the move’.

In the meantime, he’s taking every opportunity to make memories with his loved ones, especially wife Jess and their three young boys, who remain unaware of their dad’s illness.

However, in much happier news, Jonnie is set to be back on our televisions in just one day’s time.

Announcing his return in an episode of Escape to the Country, the much-loved presenter shared a series of behind-the-scenes snaps from filming to Instagam.

Jonnie wrote in his caption: ‘Good news to start the week, there’s a brand new episode of @escape_country airing tomorrow on @bbcone at 3 pm and it’s one of mine!’

On what viewers can expect, he added: ‘I head down to Somerset and look at some fantastic rural properties in some beautiful locations. Plus I also get to visit a cider farm – perks of the job. Hope you enjoy!’

The images he shared included a selfie of Jonie with the crew overlooking a beautiful countryside view, as well as filming in the woodlands surrounded by autumn leaves.

Taking to the comments, his followers expressed their excitement to see him back in action.

‘Great news! Will be watching ! 🌟’, another said.

‘This is great Jonnie, will be tuning in. 🙏💚’, another promised.

‘Look forward to watching it… always enjoy your episodes the best❤️’, agreed another.

Jonnie has previously spoken highly of his Escape to the Country family but, sadly, said he felt ‘pushed aside’ by the A Place in the Sun team once they learned of his cancer.

He said he was impressed by the support from Escape to the Country, but A Place in the Sun was a different story.

‘But I didn’t get that support from A Place In The Sun,’ he said. ‘I told them I wanted to work. When I said I can get you doctor notes and assurances from my oncologist that I am fit to work, I was told, verbatim, “Oh, you really don’t want to go down that route, do you?”

‘They said, “We don’t think we can get the insurance”, not, “We can’t get the insurance”, but, “We don’t think…” That broke my heart and affected my mental health.’

He claimed that the show paid him for the rest of the season but didn’t renew his contract and ‘within two weeks’ someone else was doing his job.

Jonnie’s TV return comes after an eventful weekend for him.

The presenter made a rare public appearance at A Place in the Sun’s live exhibition in Birmingham, reuniting with co-star Jasmine Harman.

Crowds gathered to listen to Jonnie talk on a panel and were keen to praise how ‘well’ he looked as he shared snaps to Instagram afterwards.
