Orange Is The New Black fans stunned to discover star, 40, to become a grandma
Orange Is The New Black star Dascha Polanco is taking on a brand new role – as the star looks forward to becoming a grandma.
The actor, 40, expressed her excitement over the upcoming addition to her family in a post on Instagram, in which she could be seen cradling her daughter’s baby bump.
‘I just got a promotion,’ she wrote, as she stood alongside her daughter, Dasany Gonzalez.
Dascha was immediately inundated with messages of congratulations over becoming a ‘Glamma’, with several comments expressing disbelief that her own grown-up daughter is having a child.
‘Congratulations !!!! Oh my God !!! Glam-ma loading ❤️❤️❤️ God bless ! 🙏🏽,’ one comment read.
‘Finest abuela,’ another said, while someone else wrote: ‘Congratulations mama it’s the best promotion ever!! Welcome to the grammy club!!’
Many fans of Orange Is The New Black may remember that Dasany actually appeared as the younger version of her mother’s character Daya Diax in season five during a flashback scene, due to their uncanny resemblance.
In June last year, Dascha shared her pride over her daughter graduating from college, as she opened up about her journey of being a mother.
‘As a Mother I had no idea what I was doing or if I was setting the “right example”. I can’t take credit for the work you have done and will continue to do on your own,’ she wrote on Instagram.
‘My Independent Queen, My first born only 2lbs barely making it … And look at you know making it happen ! Proud of your resilience, determination, your heart and looking fly always. I Love You @princess.sany_.’
In 2020, Dascha opened up in an interview about having her daughter when she was 17 years old.
‘One night, my best friend’s father said, “What you’re doing is horrible,” and he embarrassed me in front of everyone. I’ll never forget that,’ she recalled at the time.
‘But I was making the best decision that I could. I knew that having a baby was going to make my life harder, but I was also determined to turn every obstacle into a blessing.’
Dasany announced her pregnancy last month, sharing pictures that she took with her partner in a photoshoot while writing in her Instagram caption: ‘The butterflies in my belly turned into two little feet 💙✨.. I can’t wait to meet you King!’
